Marilyn Mae Anderson passed away at 60 on July 21, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. A thirty year resident of Amelia Island, she was born in Centralia, WA on November 1, 1962 to Lucy Ann Loven Anderson. She survived her late husband, Art Toivonen, and is survived by one brother, Robert Casswell Anderson of Orange Park, FL and two sisters, Misty Lee Anderson of St. Augustine, and Christine Ann Traw and brother-in-law David Traw of St. Augustine, FL. She was beloved aunt to Jaymes Anderson, Sarai Gordon, Ariel Serrano, Tricia Anderson, Shannon Townsend, Kyle and his wife Shelby Anderson, and Rebecca Joy Netz. She was great aunt to Caleb, Ashtyn and Hartley Anderson, Jada and Bradley Townsend, and Frederick Netz, III, among others. Marilyn was an entrepreneur and owner of Amelia Country Cleaners and took great pride in her work. Known for her easy smile and bright personality, she was loved by all who knew her. Marilyn was a free-spirit who loved life on “her island” spending time at the beach, hanging with friends at local bars, or just sitting outside watching the sunset with one of her furry friends. Marilyn expressed her love through acts of service and giving, always the first one to lend a hand when anyone needed help. She had a large circle of friends and will be remembered for the love she so freely gave to those whose lives she touched.
