Ann L. McLaughlin Pinkney Bryant (84), known as Gampie to her grandchildren, was born on May 2,1939 to Eddie and Helen McLaughlin in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating from Stanton High School, she went on to further her education at Edward Water College graduating with a Bachelor of Education and then with a Master of Education from Florida A & M University. Ann landed her first job as a teacher at Callahan Intermediate School where she taught for 23 years. Education, teaching, reading, traveling, and shopping were her passions. Ann also like talking on the phone with family, and friends about many different topics, especially current events with Mrs. Shelia Nichols. Ann loved God and her immediate and extended family; she was always checking on the family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She met the love of her life, Frederick Pinkney in early childhood and they married, going on to have three children, Frederick, Ophelia, and Zenobia Pinkney. Then later in life she met and married, Alfonso Bryant, having one daughter Alysia Smith. Ann was predeceased in death by her parents, Eddie, and Helen McLaughlin, husbands, Frederick Pinkney, (1st marriage) and Alfonso Bryant (2nd marriage). son, Frederick E. Pinkney, sister, Fannie Ruth Richardson and Cousin Sylvia McCloud and special friend and coworker Charlotte Rodgers. She is survived by her children: Ophelia Pinkney, Zenobia Pinkney, Alysia Smith (Spencer), Sister Edna Dixon. Grandchildren, Vincent Parrish Jr. (Zenobia), Jamiel Pinkney (Frederick), Ashaunti Pinkney (Zenobia), Octayvia Smith, Spencer Smith ll, and Joshua Smith (her sugar bandit) (Alysia). Great Grandchildren Malani & Marlei (her Fat cheeks) Pressley (Octayvia) a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends near and far; special Friend and coworker: Mrs. Shelia Nichols.
